What was I thinking.
My step-mother Sue lost her mother Ruth last March. Ruth came into my life in my late teens after official Grandma status was established. Not that Ruth was not a kind and loving person or that I did not get along with her, far from. Ruth was a beautiful woman. A woman I'm better for knowing. It's just that Grandmahood was already set, if that makes sense. So I considered Ruth my step-mother's Mom and not my Grandmother.
However when E came along I immediately saw Ruth as E's Great Grandma. E was new, Great Grandmahood was established right away.
Having lost my mother and knowing that pain I've been trying to think of ways to honor Ruth's memory and hopfully give Sue a bit if comfort. So I knitted her a hat out of Ruth's stash yarn.
Ruth was really into Emmaus Walks and De Colores. She had a ton of rainbow and Rooster stuff around the house. Her stash was brimming with Rainbow Acrylic for Emmaus participant gift items. Yes Ruth was into rainbows.
So I thought a rainbow hat might be good for Sue. We shall see. The cool thing is Sue and Dad actually wear the hats I knit for them, and not just when I'm visiting. Dad literally wears his out.
Will she like it? I'm not 100% sure but I will tell her that I was thinking of her Mom while I knitted it and hope it brings her some comfort.

What wonderful sentiment. I'm sure there won't be a dry eye in the house. . . :)
when I hear rainbow acrylic I think bad... and that hat is actually really cute! I'm sure she will appreciate it!
Hey Ladies, I too think bad when I think rainbow acrylic but I have a feeling Sue will like the hat, at least I hope so. :-)
