The HP Shelf, Recycled Sari Silk Bag, Fiber Trends Felted Clogs and Some New Yarn
My HP CRAZED sister Allison has this new and improved HP Bookshelf of Love. Behold the much lauded but only recently documented HP Shelf of Knitted Love. From left to right we have William in his Wizard costume from Build a Bear, HiP, Sheldon the HP Turtle, a watercolor E painted of Harry, the Weasley cell phone cozy, a rugby stripe scarf, matching Hatmione and mittens, a Republicans for Voldemort bumper sticker one of Allie's Republican buddies from work gave her, HP Kitty hiding in the corner and finally HP Hedgie. Allie has quiet the set up. I'm glad I finally got to bask in the HP glory that is the HP Bookshelf of Love.
How about a long overdue picture of the Fiber Trend Felted clogs I finished sometime in late May early June. They turned out ok, not mind blowing but ok. I knitted them in Cascade 220 and followed the Women's Medium size. If I make them again I'm splurging for leather soles, they are very slippery on bare floors.
I'm loving the recycled sari silk yarn I bought from The Wool Peddler. It's just so fun to watch the yarn change color as you knit. I made fairly quick progress on the first Unbiased.
The bag is a bit shallow, could be deeper. I've got a decent little stash of interesting plastic bags collected for the plastic version. I'm really interested to see how the plastic takes to the pattern.
We found ourselves at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, MI last week. The hospital is more then likely the only hospital in the country with it's own on site yarn store. Gifted is a small yet mighty little store with a nice array of yarn, books, needles, notions and classes. The ladies minding the store were lovely. Unfortunately Gifted does not have a website and is not included on the official hospital website. I think that a hospital yarn shop is a fabulous idea. Knitting is incredibly therapeutic for patients and staff alike.
Of course I bought some yarn. Two hanks of Claudia Hand Painted fingering weight 100% Merino in Jungle. You get one guess what I plan on making with this yarn.
If you guessed yet another Hedgehog you would be right. At least some of this yarn is destined to be the tummy of a green Hedgehog for the H Man. I already have some Olive fun fur that a girlfriend gave me a few months ago. Now I just have to order more wool for the back.
In other knitting news I am making progress on the Leia Wig. I've got the hat part done and most of one of the buns knitted. I'm still trying to figure out yarn for the R2-D2 hat. I'm still trying to decide if I want to tackle double knit or do a ton of duplicate stitch. I know I'm not up for intarsia.
